Heartthrob song,
sound poetry, motion picture, and
sport not only part of Indo-Pak culture but also called one beat for two hearts.
“Politics, arm-race, industrial grapple or even bi-lateral talks never
unite two nation - only culture does,” Mr. Mansoor Usmani claimed at
Second Indo-Pak Mushaira coordinated by Gahwar-e-Adab US Chapter at Cal Poly
Pomona July 16th, 2005.
Mr. Mansoor Usmani (India), a phenomenal poet,
brilliantly emceed the mushaira before the audience.
Professor Waseem Barelvi (India) presided the evening
with Mr. Jazib Qureshi (Karachi) as a chief guest.
Honored guest poets also included Dr. Rahat Induri
(India), and Dr. Naseem Nighat (India).
Local poets contributed
the occasion were Mr. Ateesh
Vagredia, Mr. Tabish Khanzada, Mr. Khalid Khaja, Mr.
Wasiul Hasan Naqqash, Mr. Zafar Abbas, Ms. Rehana
Qamar, Mr. Majeed Akhtar, Ms. Asifa Nishat, and Mr.
Arif Imam.
Mushaira started
9 PM right after a gourmet feast from
Shahnawaz Restaurant attended by literary personae of Greater Los Angeles.
Gahwar-e-Adab should be commended for the efforts synchronizing poets from
India and Pakistan on one stage Mr. Sameen Faruqui and Mr. Zafar Kamal, Los
Angeles chapter in-charge, seemed pleased at their capacity for such a response
from poetry patrons
The evening was
a great success bringing the two
nations closer than ever with poetry and literature
being the hardcore of the nations. Mushaira lasted
good 5 hours leaving the audience with poesy will be
remembered till next year.
