Whether you are seriously running for a cause, volunteering for an NGO or simply wanted to contribute for humanity, the Society has an event for you. A similar event was observed on May 20, 2005 at The Hilton – LAX for elites of the community who never let such a chance go by without contributing. The theme was to raise funds for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Center who celebrated their 10th anniversary of their successful operation.

The Founder and CEO, Mr. Imran Khan called upon the
community to witness the process of giving lives to the ailing nation suffering from cancer. To elaborate the learning, Dr. Burki honored the gathering with facts how this symbolic organization reached its Excellencies. “Vision, commitment, hard work, and above all continue support from community is what made this operation a Self Sufficient, High Tech, Free Treatment and Research Center in the World”, Mr. Imran Khan commenced his speech. A visual presentation of this prestigious project and its achievements were all tell by a video during the speech.

To share Imran’ s vision and to support the cause, efforts from Mr. Ali Zaidi, Mrs. Yasmin Zaidi, Mrs. Yahya Farooqui, Mr. Fazal Farooqui, Dr. Razzak Chawdery, and Mr. Shafiq Khan can’t be forgotten. A full capacity hall of 700 plus was packed by the end of the evening showing the commitment behind the man who made this project possible. Musical Heartthrobs of Pakistan, Fuzon Band, spiced up the evening with songs audience waited enough to hear them live.

During the speech, the optimistic, Dr. Burki gave a bird’s-eye view of the facility, operation details, monthly expenses, numbers of patients checking in daily, and how this phenomenal lavatory is high tech of its own. “70 % patients treated free, 30 % pays partially leaving the rest of the expenses contributed through donations, funds and zakat”, he added. “The facility is a self-managed, state of the art, all
computerized, installed with self-designed software system and a cutting edge Research Center being copied all over the world as a role model”, Dr. Burki complimented.

“It takes only 15 Cents to be treated at SKMH & RC
regardless of social status and patients are pouring in even from Afghanistan and India including endowed
Pakistani”, Imran Khan stated. “Besides on-going prices of drugs One fifth of them are imported, free chemotherapy, free food, pharmacy accessibility, and free prescriptions are the iconic symbols of this world know facility”, His Excellency enumerated. “How handy this organization has been for the ailing humanity is what symbolize us”, a statement he was
proud of.

The evening was witnessed by elites from different walks of the community and generously pledged $700,000 for the facility that will ultimately help hundreds of ailing humanity. A conspicuous pledge for $500,000 came from Mr. Shoaib Kothawala; Mr. Adaya also contributed $10,000 for the great cause.
