A wide range of social needs, including but not limited to housing, raising a family, basic education, and labor have direct impact on health. It has been said, “A healthy and well-taught mind is necessary of a healthy society, as air to life.” NCHD is an organization which comes to one’s mind when you analyze above social needs in a world where three billion people live on less than $2 a day and not enough help is available for those individuals.

Elite and community of Los Angeles showed up at large exhibiting a commitment for a cause not only approved by Government of Pakistan but also applauded by Mr. Kofi Annan – Secretary General, United Nations. This very fundraising event of National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) was elegantly arranged at Hilton LAX, September 23rd, 2005.

The Gala event started at 7:00 PM with a social hour followed by a gourmet dinner. Mr. Omair Saqib and Mrs. Aiesha Ghauri elegantly emceed the evening thereafter with the host committee Dr. Nasim Ashraf, Mr. Noor Muhammad Jadmani – Consul General of Pakistan, Farrokh Captain, Najeeb Ghauri, Pervez and Almas Lodhi, Irshad and Linda Haque, Khalida Samad, Ahmed & Perveen Ali, and Ghazala Khan.

Addressing the audience, Mr. Pervez Lodhi and Mr. Najeeb Ghauri commended the efforts in creating an environment where people can develop their full potential and lead productively in basic health and education sectors. “NCHD, of course, contributed in lives of people who definitely making a difference in day to day struggle in the fields of Health and Education,” they acclaimed while promising their continue support for the cause.

“This is of the organization had and will continue to get full support from Government of Pakistan for the achievements that stimulates the society in the direction of prosperity,” Mr. Jadmani asserted.

Dr. Nasim Ashraf, State Minister and Chairman NCHD, thanked the audience for their generous support and being persistent with the cause either financially or as a volunteer. “1.5 Million women have been trained in preparation and usage of ORS all over Pakistan and over 9000 Adult Literacy Centers opened (86% female learners) at a cost of $5.00 for making a person literate,” Dr. Ashraf affirmed. A documentary video was also the part of the evening displaying ongoing achievements changing lives every day in Pakistan.

The outcome of the event was far reaching affecting very educational and health sector benefiting deprived children and women mostly who will be a giving hand to the society at their turn.
