Eid Milad - Un - Nabi

Momin Lodge
Islamic Education & Research Center
Torrance, CA
April 21, 2005

It was witnessed the night of Thursday, April 21, 2005 that calling upon ummah to highlight the versatility of our beloved Prophet (P.B.U.H) even on a working day was out of ordinary and yet audience came in flocks all around the city to pay respect. That night was not a routine one, but a night very distinctive in its own – the auspicious birth of our beloved Prophet Sayyiduna Muhammad al-Mustafa, sall-Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, born 12 Rabi’u-l-Awwal 571 A.C.

All blessing goes to brother Dr. Hasan Ud-Din Hashmi who believes if you have renowned Islamic Scholar on the podium with enchanting voice reciting Naat, even a working day won’t stop a handsome gathering, and it did. An extravagant number of audience with heart full for Prophet’s love exceeded 500 proved him the one who was the reason for this very Universe. It all happen at Momin Lodge Torrance – an Islamic Education and Research Center catering Muslims of Southern California for the last two decades.

Living in this very age of science and technology where information available exceeds the number of new inventions, people with conspicuous consumption generate controversy in Islam without knowing sunna, hadith, or fiqh. We hear people calling this celebration a bid’a is not uncommon exposing lack of love for our Prophet (P.B.U.H) ultimately denying the fact he was sent as a light for all universes. “Beware of matters newly begun, for most of newly begun matter is innovation, every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in hell,” a prophetic hadith for people calling it bid’a as denying this celebration means going against Prophet (P.B.U.H), choosing this path means against God and this path my friend is nothing but gateway to hell.

The blessed night was stunningly emceed by non other than Dr. Hasan Ud-Din Hashmi, a lively figure for religious activities in Southern California. Cognitional speakers contributed the night with their wisdom included Dr. Muzamil H. Siddiqui, Dr. Ahmad H. Sakr, Dr. Aslam Abdullah, Shaikh Rabih Othman and of course Dr. Hasan Ud-Din Hashmi. The enchanting Naat readers were Sister Meher, Brother Abuzar, Brother Anwar, Brother Waseem Beg, Sister Muneera, and Sister Naghmana. To glorify the evening, a group from Anaheim recited poetry with traditional musical instruments likes Drum and Duf to fill the air with Prophet’s love.

Distinguished Muslim Scholars addressed before the audience exploring various aspects of his life and teaching of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) urging people to follow his footsteps. Dr. Shaikh Rabih Othman in his speech revealed the fact why God ask Muslims to ask forgiveness through Holly Prophet (P.B.U.H) because he was the reason for this universe to be created. Even Adam (s.a.s) requested God for forgiveness in the name of Prophet (P.B.U.H). “Hazrat Esa (s.a.s) received food for his followers as Nemat and called it day of Eid, but born of Holly Prophet (P.B.U.H) was rehmat for the whole universe,” Dr. Hasan Ud-Din Hashmi testified. “A handicapped daughter of an idol worshiper saw an unusual bright light in the sky and prayed for her wellness for the sake of that light, next thing she knew was able to walk with glorifying beauty on her face. The Idol told the worshiper that the Greatest Prophet (P.B.U.H) was born. He went to Mecca where people told Abu Talib has had a grandson, was kissed and cherished by the father,” Dr. Hashmi quoted.
