Some people wait for Sunday every week to relax and do sports, some of them wait to visit Church, some of us look for Sunday every year and call it an Easter Sunday, but a whole community wait for Sunday every year that falls just after Muharram. You are not mistaken if I am talking about Haleem offerings being observed every year at Garden Grove Park, Garden Grove, CA.

All credits goes to Mr. Kamal Zafar and his team who has been active in the community as an MQM conductor for Los Angeles unit with him as a unit in charge. Active members of Los Angeles Unit, not limited to, are: Mr. Sameen Faruqui, Mr. Asif Faruqui, Mr. Syed Arif Ali, Mr. Mubeen Beg, Ms. Atia Niazi, Mr. Khwaja Ishtiaq Hussain, Mr. Mohammad Lateef, Mr. Syed Hassan, Mr. Pervez Khan and others.

The Excellency, Mr. Noor Muhammad Jadmani, Consul General and Mr. Ahmad Farooq, Vice Consul were the persona of the event. Senator Babar Khan Ghauri, Minister for Ports & Shipping, and Senator Aamir Liaqat Hussain, Minister of State for Religious Affairs, couldn’t make it to the event due to the emergency situation in Sindh.

The Haleem offering was arranged to remember the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain who spared his life for the sake of Islam. It’s an event one will find elites from Sunnis and Shiats being gathered at one place under the motto and objective of Mr. Altaf Hussain, founder and Leader of MQM, with its 18-point Charter of Demand seeking the rights of all the citizens of Pakistan along with the rights of the Mohajirs.

The event was observed by a large number of Los Angeles elites and enjoyed the company of Mr. Kamal Zafar team and Consul General with a delicious Haleem served from 1 PM to 4 PM. This is a type of community gathering one will visit every year with the family to mingle and cherish the moments with a common man and to the leaders of the community at the same time.

We congratulate, once again, the MQM Los Angeles unit for the dedication and support being seen for numbers of year and hope to see them around for years to come serving the community.
