A tsunami in Asia, hurricanes in United States and an earthquake in Pakistan - taking people close to God, asking for forgiveness, digging their Books of believe and at the same time encouraging to help the victims financially, emotionally, and voluntarily.

In the wake of the recent 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Pakistan that left 50,000.00 people dead, 57,000.00 injured, 3 million homeless and thousands orphans, Government of Pakistan with the help of world wide disaster relief organization and volunteers combating the situation at their best. An initial fund of $5 Billions is estimated for reconstruction and rehabilitation of the victims and every effort is being made from a common public to school students, celebrities to business icons to raise the funds, nevertheless will replace the human sufferings at the disaster area.

Either you reside in Pakistan or live far from the catastrophic area your heart will go for the people who are in total loss of their belongings and the loved ones. Muslims all over the world pledged generously through President Relief Fund, live telethons, wire transfer transactions, and ran campaign for tent, blanket, medicine, ambulance, medical supplies, and dry food.

NGO’s and Non Profit Organizations that stands out helping the humanity included but not limited to Islamic Relief, Mir Khalilur Rehman Earthquake Fund Relief, Red Cross, etc etc. Community at large of Los Angeles had an opportunity to demonstrate their love, care and compassion for the victims and attended the Fund Raising Event sponsored by Islamic Relief and Shura Council of Southern California that contributed $700,000.00 on October 22, 2005 at Anaheim Convention Center co-sponsored by COPAA, SAFLA, MSA-West, and Pakistan Link.

Keynote speakers Dr. Muzammil Siddique and Consul General Noor Muhammad Jadmani advice the crowd with intensity of the disaster that took thousand of live and will take 5 to 10 years rebuilding the very community at several locations. “This is the time to turn to God through donation and charity to needy people with Zakat, Fitrah, Fidya, and Kaffarah as He is testing us as He did in the disaster area,” Dr. Muzammil Siddique appealed. Mr. Noor Muhammad Jadmani stressed the fact that we are fighting against the time as winter is approaching thus making the relief efforts troublesome and life will be tougher for the survivors.

Brother Asif Sheikh of Islamic Relief also mention the fact how Islamic Relief is helping this humanitarian disaster, as they were the first at the ground zero for rescue operation. “With 3 full time offices in
Pakistan and 10 health clinic throughout the affected area Islamic Relief need continue contributions to help heal the suffering humanity,” he stressed. A video displaying the rescue operation, delivery of goods including tents, blankets, medical supplies from USA to the survivors encouraged audience pledging more for brothers and sisters.

Although we will never fully understand the pain and suffering that has marked regions of Pakistan but your generous pledges, contributions and continuous help certainly ease the process of getting their lives together.
