"If I find
you writing poetry again, you will be punished and grounded," were the
words from a mother who must be pompous and speaks loudly about her son's
literary acquirement this day. He is nobody but notable poet and prose writer
Mr. Irfan Murtaza whose contributions for poetry loudly attributed by literary
personalities at Anaheim Marriot, Anaheim on May 12, 2006 at his book inauguration
of Chanda and Tasveerain.
Mr. Irfan Murtaza, founder and President of Urdu Writers Society, Inc., came
to United States of America 20 years ago without a clue that his astute wisdom
of poetry and prose writing will stage him as literary persona of Los Angeles.
"Mr. Khalid Khaja and Mr. Arif Imam undoubted are my mentor and teacher
in believing me and critiquing my writing until it came upon me," Mr.
Irfan commented in an interview for The Daily Jang.
With three books in his bag, Mr. Irfan Murtaza was all set to showcase his
Audio Book-rare to find in literary milieu called Chanda. The book Chanda
and Tasveerain have already been recognized and inaugurated in Karachi, Lahore,
and Islamabad where bookish personalities admired him as a wisdom poet and
candor writer. Chanda is designed for immigrants who are not quite familiar
with Urdu script but also attracts literary lovers who enjoy poetry with musical
background. The Audio Book Chanda elegantly featured 75 love poems from his
three books. Whereas, Tasveerain appealingly portraits collection of imaginary
conversations with notoriety Urdu poets.
The inauguration night was esthetically emceed by famous literary persona
of Los Angeles, non other than Mr. Khalid Khaja who welcomed distingue guest
for words about the Man of the moment. The inauguration started around 9:30
pm being president by Dr. Pinhaan (Austin) till the first half and audiences
had an honor to have Mr. Younus Ejaz (Dallas) as a president for the second
half with Mr. Rafiuddin Raaz (Karachi) being the chief guest of the night.
The conspicuous Consul General Mr. Noor Muhammed Jadmani with General Jehandad
Khan exalted the evening with their presence.
Local Poets included but not limited to Khalid Khaja, Arif Imam, Anwar Khaja,
Wasi Naqqash, and Arif Mansoori accommodating Tariq Hashmi and Younus Ejaz
(Dallas), Masroor Jawed (N.Y.), and Mr. Niaz as honored guest for the night.
Mr. Murtaza's sons Shawn Murtaza and Bilal Murtaza also tribute the facts
as how their lives are filled with aroma of profound literature day in and
day out. The poetic gathering largely attracted by lively participation of
poets who tribute Mr. Irfan Murtaza�s literary acumen
and different facets of his writing as a fiction and nonfiction contributions
to literature.
It was a night that truly unfolds the capacity of literature lies within him
and also portrait Mr. Murtaza as a beacon for poetry and prose academy. One
night was certainly not enough to feel this very poet through his poems, writing
and compositions but audiences were lucky enough to get away with a free copy
of his audio CD to explore the encyclopedic Mr. Irfan Murtaza. A mammoth sale
for his three books was also recorded that peculiar night.
