An ardent and animate reception was observed Sunday evening, March 13, 2005, at LAX Hilton Hotel 8:00 PM sharp. It was an opportunity that couldn’t be missed if you are a vibrant Pakistani American and feel athirst for inside political, economical, and regional standings of Pakistan. Your got me right if your guess was Dinner reception for His Excellency, Mr. Jehangir Karamat arranged by COPAA.

It was an evening of understanding and appreciating efforts witnessed by the whole world how Pakistan came out from the “state of target” by US to the best alliance country combating terrorism in and out of the country making this earth a safer place. The evening was a testimony from elites all walks of life, American and Pakistan-Americans.

Distinguish guest and VIPs of the night, but not limited to, were Mr. Keith Atkinson (Director, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), Mr. & Mrs. Terry Buchanan (Community Leader), Mr. Richard Eldred (Community Leader), Rabbi Alan Freeling (Executive Director, Human Relations Commission, City of LA), Mr. Paul Greene (Community Leader), Mr. Jason Hamlin (Ministries International), Elder & Mrs. Randall Huff (Area Authority, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), Consul General Noor Jadmani (Pakistan Consulate, LA), Mayor Sukhee Kang (Mayor Pro Tem, City of Irvine, CA), Mr. Leon Mayer (Community Leader), Major Adil Mujtaba (President Pakistani American Veterans Association), Dr. Maria Rochart (Chairperson, Glendale Commission for Women & Children), Mr. Steve Ropfogel (Community Leader), Mr. John Schock (Community Leader), Bishop & Mrs. Tom Thorkelson (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints), Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa (Councilmember, 14th District City of LA), Mr. Gordon Yahz (Community Leader), and Mr. & Mrs. Ron Youra (Community Leader).

The evening was started with the verse from Holy Quran at 8:30 PM and emceed by Mr. Tanveer Khan till the end the show after audience enjoyed the delicious feast from Shahnawaz Restaurant. Mr. Hamid Malik, COPAA’s president unfolds the beautiful evening and welcomed the entire distinguish guest, VIPs and His Excellency Mr. Jehangir Karamat. In his speech, Mr. Hamid Malik elaborate the fact how COPAA is playing his role to assist public officials and policy makers in the United States understand issues of vital interests related to Pakistan, with the aim of bringing about a positive change in policies and attitudes towards Pakistan.

Consul General, Mr. Noor Muhammad Jadmani contributed the evening with the fact how US-Pakistan bilateral relations have move forward since last 3 years spreading our wings in all directions showing economical stability. Mr. Jadmani did compliment His Excellency with his educational background, foreign affairs sight, and years of experience what could play a vibrant role in bringing the two nations together.

Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa seemed please and confident at the podium stating the fact how Pakistani Americans are contributing the community as a nation and look forward working with them as a Mayor. “Ambassador Jehangir Karamat will be a vital addition towards US-Pak relations and I personally welcome him and looking forward working with him for a better future”, he added.

“Hard workers, high achievers, active, and articulate individuals are the qualities I see in Pakistani Americans that is the core of a strong community, nation and country”, was the starting words from Ambassador Jehangir Karamat's speech. I feel proud to be an ambassador to this nation-a nation with high aims and positive attitude.
