Presents
"Anarkali"

Universal Studios, Hollywood, CA
September 18, 2004

If you feel obligated and have a passion for rescuing people from social sectors of poverty, hunger, health and education, one can’t expect you missing the night of September 18, 2004 at Universal Studios, CA.

That night was a fundraising Gala witnessed showcasing a fascinating combination of cultures and flavors, with a grand dramatic musical depiction of the famous Moghul Love Story by Dr Nasim Ashraf, Minister of State and Chairman National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Pakistan Human Development Fund (PHDF) chaired by Farrokh Captain, and United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Anarkali, show of the evening was the production of Farrokh Captain, beautifully written and directed by Mr. Rizwan Baig, and stunningly narrated by the one and only Mr. Zia Mohyeddin – a classic tale of love, betrayal, duty and honor.

The Host committee also included Mr. Noor Mohammad Jadmani, Consul General of Pakistan, LA, L.A. Mayor James Hahn, L.A. County Sheriff Leroy Baca, Mr. Irshad ul Haque (President “Store It All”), Chief of Police William Bratton, Mr. Prevaiz Lodhi (CEO Ledtronics, Director PHDF), Mr. Najeeb Ghauri (Chairman NetSol, Director PHDF), Mr. Ahmed Ali (President “Geo-Etka”), Ms. Almas Lodhie, Ms. Aiesha Ghauri, Mr. Saeedullah Khan Paracha (Director PHDF), Ms. Ghazala Khan and Dr. Muhammad Akmal.

The event was started with 8:00 PM sharp with words form Quran followed by Pakistani and American National Anthem at the Universal Studio, Hollywood comely designed as one is sitting at Mughal Darbar. Hefty and generous donations were witnessed from the audiences and from the Committee members after the reception as Adaya family made the largest contribution of the night.

The lavish and spectacular show, Anarkali was the feature of the night started after a connoisseur of fine food. The show was a beautiful extravaganza of lights, costumes, stage-setup, and dances with Mr. Zia Mohyeddin as narrator of the classic Mughal love story. Choreography of Parul Shah made the stage lively and took audiences back into the Mughal era.

We congratulate Dr. Nasim Ashraf, Mr. Farrokh Captain and the host committee for their efforts in making a change in human sectors of Pakistan and organizing such a Gala for the audiences of greater Los Angeles.
