The mingling of melodious voice, coral response of the secondary singer, vigorous hand clap and the combination of harmonium and tabla players kept he audience on their feet the whole evening. The evening was named to a leading Qawwali singer from Pakistan, the disciple and beloved nephews of the great Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rizwan Mujahid Ali Khan and Muazzam Mujahid Ali Khan.
The evening was an effort from The Grand Performance, Los Angeles and Mrs. Perveen Ali, President of Pakistan Arts Council to bring Qawwali from a savant group Rizwan – Muazzam Qawwal. The performances were arranged on Saturday, July 24, where audiences were thrilled and entertained from the best in Qawwali singing.
The impeccable Rizwan and Muazzam are nephews to Great Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, a legendary figure in Qawwali singing from Pakistan who mesmerized the whole world with his Sufi devotional Qawwali. They received the early training from their father, a well know Qawwal, and after his death the two masters continued learning the rest from their Great Uncle Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Rizwan and Muazzam started singing Qawwali from their early tens from school competitions to a lead Qawwal in many Urse for religious figures of Pakistan.
The young and energetic brothers are know for their singing in US and UK and a large audiences have attended the evening to witness theme of love, romance, devotion for God, Spiritual adoration and beautiful poetry through the masters. All night long, one would observe Qawwali lovers clapping and dancing on the floor with the beat ultimately demonstrated great performance from the two brothers.
Though it was a great Qawwli night and a short one, but we
hope that Mrs. Perveen from of Pakistan Arts Council will provide Los Angeles
audience to listen to them again in days to come.
